Helps to prevent the horse from opening his mouth and resisting the bit. The pressure points in front and on the curb encourage the horse to lower his head.
Fitted correctly when sitting at least 6cm above the nostrils on the solid part on the nose. If too low it can interfer with the horses breathing. It should have a fingers width all the way around.
Never use a drop noseband to attach a standing martingale.
